What drives university-industry collaboration? Research excellence or firm collaboration strategy?

• Firm characteristics – R&D intensity, firm size and human capital determine the propensity of firms to collaborate with universities. Firms that other partners are also far more likely collaborate, especially local Research excellence is linked lower university industry collaboration. Universities achieve success in research quality tend weaken their links national firms. innovation policy aims boost output university-industry collaboration (UIC) part allow access leading scientific knowledge.
